Adult Coloring Book Style Pottery Painting Workshop
  • Worried about “messing it up?” when it comes to painting pottery? Not a chance in this fun workshop! Tiles arrive already fired with a glazed black coloring book outline that even if painted over, still shines through! Tiles will have a variety of garden themes to choose from! Once fired, tiles are food safe and can be used as spoon rests, coasters, or a simple table decoration.
  • Tiles will be fired and ready for pick up at the Parks office approximately two weeks after the workshop. The Parks Department will notify you when they are ready for pick up.

  • Saturdays, May 4 - 18: Have a child that LOVES space AND loves art? This is the perfect class for them! Your child will enjoy both space themed arts and crafts as well as fun space facts during this month’s budding artists series! We will create space jars with glow paint, galaxy themed canvas paintings, polymer clay space critters, and more fun (and potentially messy!) activities! Please have your child dressed in clothing suitable for painting and clay as there is always the potential for staining!

Budding Artists (8-10 Years)
  • Saturdays, April 6, 13, 27 (no class 4/20): This month's budding artist series is themed around all things relating to spring! We will start this series off with creating cute little clay homes fit for a little mouse or tiny critter, paper flower bouquets, and create a beautiful spring themed mixed media painting using colorful crepe paper. Clay houses will be painted with acrylic paint and ready to take home on the last day of class.
  • Saturdays, September 7 - 21: Our theme for this series is “Tiny Treasures!” Participants will be looking at art through a smaller lens during this series as we create on a mini-scale! Projects include mini canvas paintings, drawing games, sculpting small with kiln fire clay, jewelry making, and more! Each student will receive a small wooden treasure box to paint, and store their creations-if they made them small enough! Please note kiln fire projects will be available approximately two weeks after the class. The Parks office will notify everyone when they are ready for pick up.

Mugs and Sweet Treats Painting Party
  • A sweet little workshop to start off the warmer months! Participants will get to glaze a large mug, perfect for dipping cookies in milk or drinking some delicious hot chocolate (or a frozen hot chocolate!) after firing! After glazing, what better way to round things off with a cookie or 2! Please note, cookies may contain traces of peanuts and cannot be guaranteed allergen free.
  • Mugs will be available for pick up 2-3 weeks after workshop. The Parks office will notify parents via email when they are ready for pick up at the Parks office.

Under the Sea Inspired Plate Workshop
Bring the ocean a little closer in this fun ocean themed workshop! We will start off with a slab of clay and a mold to create our plate base, then after viewing some images of ocean animals and plant life, we can hand build and decorate our plate! Bubbles, octopus, coral, we can create it all! After hand building, we will take some time to glaze our plates and final details! Plates will be ready approximately three weeks after the workshop and available for pickup at the Parks office. Registrants will be notified via email when they are ready for pick up at the Parks office. Please note these plates are decorative and meant to be displayed. They are not food safe and should not be placed in a dishwasher. These would make great candy dishes for wrapped treats! A grown up must attend with child.

Kids Under the Sea Themed Canvas Painting
  • We are all about the ocean this month! In this canvas painting workshop, kids will have 2-3 example paintings with stencils to use for inspiration (or they can create their own!) we will talk about color mixing, background colors, and how to create different seaside themes like sunsets, underwater silhouettes, and sandy beaches! All materials are included; each participant will receive an 11x14 or similar sized canvas. Paintings will be ready to take home the same day.
  • Please dress to get messy.
