The Purple Paint Brush Art Classes
Budding Artists (5-7 Years)
Saturdays, June 19 – July 3
In this Budding Artists series we will be working with different types of clay and combining different mediums with it! First day of class we will hand build with clay to be fired in a kiln, the second class will be a creation in air dry clay with other fun 3-D elements that can be added to it, and on the final day of class projects will be painted with acrylic. While projects dry, we will work on a fun drawing project about "my favorite things" in a jar.
Saturdays, August 7 – 21
Summer is coming to a close for the year, but we’re already thinking about fall in Budding Artists Class! We’ll be using the upcoming season as a source of inspiration for creating clay pumpkins (maybe go further and carve a face like a jack o lantern! Or maybe give it a removable lid! Contact paper “stained” glass, and using tree stencils to create a fall themed resist painting on canvas.
Budding Artists (8-10 Years)
Saturdays, July 17 – 31
In this series the student is in control of their creations: each day will be a new material. We will be using air dry clay, paper Mache, and drawing mediums. Students will plan out their ideas each morning with a sketch before starting, and bring their creation to life!
Teen Art Club (10-15 Years)
Wednesdays, June 2 – 16
We will start off this series of Teen Art Club with a little creative illumination to artists world by using a light bulb as a canvas, (1 light bulb per student is included) using seashells as a painting surface, and using air dry clay to sculpt wacky looking hamburgers that are beyond those at a summer cookout! (unicorn burgers? purple burgers? a hamburger with headphones? the possibilities are pretty neat!)
Wednesdays, August 11 – 25
There are many varieties of clay, and in Teen Art Club we’re learning about and creating with 3 types: kiln fire clay, polymer, and air dry. The first few minutes of each class will be dedicated to discussion on the material as well as sketching potential ideas, selecting one each day to create. All projects will be ready for pick up on the last day of class.
Tiny Van Gogh (6-18 Months)
Thursdays, June 3 – 17
This month in Tiny Van Gogh we will be creating, experiencing, and playing with fun textures! Projects will be a collaborative “mess free” canvas painting (there is always a potential to get messy, so please dress accordingly) Babies first clay thumbprint project (we will be using non-toxic baby safe air dry clay, projects will be ready to paint and take home the last day of class) taste-safe cloud dough sensory (please let us know if your child has any food related allergies) toys in gelatin squish and find sensory, and creating fun prints using recycled bubble wrap.
Thursdays, August 5 – 19
Adults will want to come dressed to get messy for this series, as each class has a great possibility to get a little messy! Tiny artists will collaborate with their grown-ups to create a mess free canvas painting to hang at home, taste safe finger paints (though not very tasty depending on the baby you ask) interactive sensory bins and seek and finds, and getting a head start on fall with a fun fall themed clay project!
Toddler Art Adventure (18months-4years old)
Thursdays, July 8 - 22
Summer is here! This month we are taking Toddler Art Adventure both inside and outside the classroom! We will paint using colorful ice cubes, play games outside in the park, create your own sidewalk chalk to take home (easy peasy recipe included!), create and paint clay turtles, and bring the beach inside the classroom as we play with taste-safe kinetic sand! Please let us know ahead of time if your child has any food related allergies.
